TB AND LEPROSY
Sengerema
hospital is the referral centre for health centers and dispensaries
in the district where TB, HIV activities take place. We do receive
people from nearby districts: Buchosa, Geita, Chato, Nyang’wale
Kahama, when they are diagnosed at Sengerema hospital out patients
department or when they pass by e.g. on a journey. After diagnose
they are referred back to their districts for further treatment once
they are stable.
District
TB and Leprosy coordinator and the District TB/HIV coordinator, one
enrolled nurse and one medical attendant. A carpenter/shoemaker makes
and repairs special shoes for leprosy patients and repair also
prosthesis.
The
laboratory has a gene -expert machine and the laboratory
technologists are trained to use it.
